Does it get any better than the Ferrari 488 Pista? If you ask nearly any publication, influential YouTube reviewer, or owner–the answer is a resounding “No.”

Float like a 🦋
Sting like a 🐝
Rumble, V8. Rumble.

A quick Google search will return pages and pages of raving praise for this mid-engined twin-turbocharged V8 supercar. Top Gear, Car and Driver, Chris Harris, Doug DeMuro, and even Ferrari themselves, notoriously unwilling to advertise their products directly, were all tripping over themselves to glorify the track-focused Pista. While the 488 GTB was universally lauded as a pure driver’s car, the Pista upstages its brethren in nearly every way. 50 additional horsepower, boost by gear, titanium engine bits, and an instantly-recognizable front end are but some of the details that set this 488 derivative apart.

The engine borrows components from the 488 Challenge series, while the aerodynamic enhancements to the rear diffuser and the gorgeous waterfall front end help it produce 20% more downforce than its GTB brethren.

However, all the engineering prowess wasn’t only dedicated to helping the Pista float around your favorite race track; Ferrari also endeavored to remove much of the sting that would typically be associated with more than 700 horsepower and two driven wheels. The Pista provides its driver an immense amount of confidence, encouraging one to enjoy its capabilities over and over.
And that is a recipe for one of the greatest automobiles of all time.

The 488 Pista is the epitome of an instant classic; a vehicle that will go down in history as one of the greatest of the internal-combustion era.
